A1 Quality Chimney Cleaning & Repair

Cannot say enough about Owen and Kelly! We bought a 1920s house in the Danforth with a chimney that was falling apart and severely blocked. Initially, we had it rebuilt by another crew, but their poor workmanship made the blockage even worse. Then we called Kelly, who had his team on-site within a day. They rebuilt the chimney from the roofline up and corrected all the previous mistakes. Fantastic work and very reasonably priced. After that, Owen spent two full days clearing the blockage, which turned out to be bricks lodged behind our second floor walls. Most people would have given up and said it couldn’t be fixed without tearing down walls.....but not Owen. Using chimney cameras and specialized tools, he worked from the attic down, removed bricks, and even accessed shared flues with our neighbour. It was a nightmare job that required incredible perseverance, and Owen got it done. Our wood burning chimney now works perfectly. I cannot thank or recommend them enough!

I can't say enough good things about A1! They came to our house twice to inspect and clean our chimney, which had not been used in years. Jacob came by the first time, and Owen the second time. They were both incredibly friendly, helpful, efficient and transparent about pricing. They never tried to upsell us, which I appreciated. They took the time to explain everything they were doing, and cleaned our chimney so that it was functional again! Kelly, Owen and the A1 Chimney team sweep the competition! I will be referring them and using them again in the future. After a small hiccup with scheduling an appointment to fix a flue tile, they reached out to me directly. They wanted to make it right, and did they ever. Even in horrible weather (literally today is a snow storm), they came out and came up with a solution. Explained everything to me and formulated a plan for the perfect fix when weather permits in the spring. As a real estate agent, I have dealt with a lot of house professionals and contractors. I can tell you most others would have not even tried to make it right or acknowledged something happened. These guys are top notch, they made it right and do the job right. No chimney smoke and mirrors from these guys, just top quality work! Highly recommend!

Every year for the past 10 years I have my chimney cleaned and inspected by A1. They do a fantastic job, clean up after. Very friendly personel and will tell you if anything extra needs to be done.

Just had the chimney swept after...well, way too long. The company was excellent to deal with, on time, efficient, and knowledgeable. I appreciated that they did not try to upsell me on anything and only gave me the information I needed and an honest assessment of when I will need their services again. In a world where contractors are constantly lying to pad their services, this company was a breath of fresh air! Highly recommend, and will be making them my regular fireplace and chimney crew.

I’ve engaged these folks numerous times to clean the chimney for my wood stove and been quite satisfied. This past time the technician pointed out that my chimney slab was deteriorated and showed me what he could see from the street. I asked him to get me a quote on a repair. After a bit of confusion, Owen the owner sent me a quote that I approved and we set a date for the repair. When Owen arrived I asked for some before and after photos and a check that squirrels hadn’t started a nest as a result of the deterioration. He discovered that the slab was falling to bits and carefully removed it so as not to have debris fall on the neighbour’s houses which are very close. He cemented a new slab, chimney tile and installed a more secure cap, as we previously had squirrels setting up a nest as a result of wire mesh failing on a previous cap. The level of workmanship was excellent as is evident in the photos. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Owen and his crew and will have them back in the future.

We have had A-1 clean our chimney several times in our 100+ year old house and the service was always extremely pleasant and professional. When we mentioned a strong fireplace smell after rains, Jacob (who did the cleaning) gave us several pieces of good advice, and said the office would follow up. Within a few days we had a more detailed lengthy call with Owen who described all possible causes and cures to the odour issue. They were both very helpful and I would recommend A-1 highly.

Great on the phone - Talked through my set up, asked great questions and gave options. Was willing to offer a more temporary solution but we agreed to do it once and do it right, no pressure. Great on site - My house is very old, soooo much character. Along with that comes difficulty, old bones are sometimes brittle. The repair and replacement of my chimney flute took under 4 hours, and the work looks great (currently and from photos shown while the work was being done). Great price - Honestly came in at the best price from other companies I had reached out to. I was considering doing this work myself, but I am glad I reached out!

They were both very neat and paid close attention to details as though it was their own home.
